You do not have to be a "Black" person to benefit from this site.
BlackPolitics.com publishes alternative political opinion, news, and commentary to inform, enlighten and broaden the political perspective of our audience. We consider uninformed and/or misinformed political action to be a threat to the security of any democratic society.
As "citizens" we have a responsibilityto participate in our democracy. To focus on and work to resolve our issues and concerns. To remain open and challenge conventional wisdom and authority whenever the status quo does not serve our collective interests.
It is alarming to us that the United States Government refers to its people as consumers now, rather than citizens. A government serves its citizens, its constituents. If government no longer considers us to be its constituents, then we as citizens are required to re-examine our role, our priorities, and our institutions.
The term 'Black' as used in the name is derived from the formal definition for the word when used as an adjective as follows: "Disclosed, for reasons of security, only to an extremely limited number of authorized persons; very highly classified: black programs in the Defense Department; the Pentagon's black budget."
