Less than one year after electing Barrack Hussein Obama the 44th President of the United States of America voters in New Jersey and Virginia, who overwhelmingly supported Obama and a platform of Change, reversed field and elected Republican Governors. This is analogous to committing to losing weight and then ordering an extra scoop of ice cream with your pie.
Americans are lazy! And our politicians and business leaders know it, feed it and use it every day to get what they want against the interests of the American people. Americans want their rights and privileges -- as long as someone else fights for and administers them. But this laziness and plague of inaction by American citizens is a clear reflection of the fractured way Americans live each day working against their self-interests. Everyday Americans go to work and do things, or ignore things going on they know to be immoral and unethical for a paycheck. They don't do the right thing. Everyday in their personal lives Americans put off their dreams due to fear and because they lack the confidence and conviction to follow-through. They know full-well how critical diet and exercise are to healthy living yet they don't do it. They know how important it is to save money to have control over their lives, real choices and real security for themselves and their families but again they don't do it. Instead they buy on credit and live in debt. They know how vital strong communities are to both our collective and personal well-being and security. They know strong communities only exist with consistent participation from its citizens. Here again they don't do it.
Don't do it. That's the tagline of the American people. On the economy Republicans have run lengthy and detailed campaigns against taxes and government. They provide numerous reasons why not to support tax increases or government control and oversight. They have cast government as a bad word referring to an ominous entity that works against the interests of citizens. And here again Americans don't do it. They vote against increasing taxes to pay for the programs they want and need -- acting under some delusion that some private sector saviors will appear to make these things so. They vote against government, their government - for government is the citizens enterprise existing to promote, support and administer the will of the people. They vote in utter ignorance of what their government is and what it does. This was classically illustrated when a disgruntled woman at a health care reform town hall meeting profoundly exclaimed "keep the government out of my Medicare". This exemplifies the saying 'what you don't know will kill you'. It crystalizes the overwhelming ignorance and unrestrained dysfunctional emotional behavior Americans apply to their affairs.
If you don't make the time to know the facts before you argue them. If you don't take control by never expending energy to fight against something, but instead choosing to invest the time and resources to fight for what you want. And if you don't stand-up and assume responsibility for the outcomes you want - at any cost. If any of these things are present then you are not exercising your powers as a citizen of the United States.
So stop whining because others have.
