Rep. Mike Pence says President Obama has not done enough to correct the economy and create jobs.
If we ask what has he done, his voting record shows he voted twice against HR 1: the bill titled "Making supplemental appropriations for job preservation and creation, infrastructure investment, energy efficiency and science, assistance to the unemployed, and State and local fiscal stabilization, for fiscal year ending September 30, 2009, and for other purposes." This is a bill that cuts taxes on unemployment benefits; extends unemployment benefits; increases tax credits for taxpayers with 3 or more children; cuts the marriage tax; extends tax credits for electricity produced by wind facilities and other renewable resources (which stimulates growth and job creation in these areas); increased the Hope Scholarship credit; granted qualified school construction bonds (which creates school construction jobs and produces better schools); requires states to periodically verify if documented aliens receiving benefits maintain legal status; provides $13 billion for education assistance - including Pell Grants; and provided $27.5 billion for highway, rail and port infrastructure construction and repairs (more jobs). HR 1 was passed by Democrats.
Representative Pence's beliefs in fairness and equality also forbid him from voting for the Equal Pay Bill HR 2831. This is a bill that makes unequal payment based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability a new violation with each payment, thereby increasing the penalties for such actions.
Mr. Pence's principals also prevented him from supporting HR 2997, a bill that prohibits the use of funds to establish or implement rules allowing the importation of poultry products from the People's Republic of China (which keeps jobs here in America), prohibits the use of funds to provide first class travel to employees of agencies that receive funding under this Act, and resolves that combat pay will not be considered income when determining eligibility for free or reduced school lunches for the children of members of the United States Armed Forces.
Here's a thought for represntative Pence and his peers in Congress and the Senate, do your part to support job creation and fixes to the economy that benefit working Americans. Apparently the record shows the President and the Democrats in Congress have had to do a lot without your support.
